Caring for a partner with Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma

Hi, i've been with my partner for about 8/9 weeks now & he has just been diagnosed with Lymphoma (all we know is its non hodgekins) He had it 13 years ago & had chemo and radiation therepy.  I've suggest ed he moves in with me so i can look after him better. Can anyone tell me what to expect when he starts treament? My dad passed with lung cancer 12 years ago but he was in a hospice so this side of it is new to me.  My partner also has type2 diabites. I also have a  3 & 4 year old to look after so any advice or tips welcome. Thank you

  • Hello pstacey1956,

Welcome to Cancer Chat! I am sorry to hear about your partner's diagnosis. I hope you won't mind but I have edited your title slightly to include the words 'Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma'  - this will allow other members who have had a similar diagnosis in the past or looked after a partner with a similar diagnosis to spot your post more easily. Hopefully you will hear from others who have found themselves in a similar boat before and they will have some good tips and advice for you.

We have detailed information on our website on Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma which you can find here and which I hope will be useful to you. There is a separate section on treatment on this page which I hope will help you understand what to expect for when he starts treatment.

If you have any questions about anything, our nurses are available on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

Sending you and your partner positive vibes ahead of his treatment. I hope it all goes well for him!

    Best wishes,
