Mum chemo fever

Hi

I'm not really sure what to write, but my mum has breast cancer, had her op at Start of April, and last week had first chemo.  Last night she was admitted to hospital with a high temperature. Not covid. I'm just struggling to process everything and cope. Just wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences or has any coping methods?

Thanks

  • Hello Laura2709

I noticed that you'd not had a reply to your post and just wanted to stop by to say Hello! and welcome and to ask how your Mum is doing?

It's always very worrying when someone is admitted to hospital. More so when they are going through treatment for cancer and with the current Covid-19 situation it's incredibly difficult for many people who are unable to visit loved ones.

I do hope that the ward have been keeping you updated.

Let us know how you're getting on if you feel able to.

    Best wishes

  • Heya Laura,

I really hope you are okay during this difficult time, dealing with this alongside a pandemic is a challenge and you should be super proud of yourself for staying strong and reaching out for a lil help. My mum has also been recently diagnosed with breast cancer and is currently going through two infections post-op. I guess like you, I have days where I feel so incapable of coping with the worries and stressors.

Some things that have and continue to help me are: going on walks- try and find a quiet spot that you can go to in nature that makes you feel a little more peaceful. Drawing or doing something creative away from work/studying also really helps me- if you don't like being creative, something similar like baking can help to distract me for a little. Please talk to people about your feelings and worries, this can be super hard sometimes, and if you really can't because you find this hard, try to write down all of your worries to get them out of your head. Journaling in fact really helps me, just write whatever you want- gratitude lists can help to shift your mind to something positive, or just rant about how angry you are ect. Either way, just try to get your emotions out so that they don't bottle up and cause you to feel much worse in the future.

Please feel free to contact me if you just want to rant or have someone to talk to.

Stay strong and look after yourself lovely- you WILL get through this!
