Dad has lung cancer

My dad got diagnosed a little over 3 years ago, at first it was in his right kidney, the only way to fix this was to remove the kidney completely.

Once they removed his kidney they ran more tests and found that it had already spread to his lungs, at first we were told they were nothing to worry about, but as time has gone on the tumour is getting bigger and chemo wasnt an option because of under lying issues with his heart.

Recently we found out its now spread to his spine and he cant walk without severe pain and crutches, his only option is radiotherapy and an experimental immunisation treatment.

I find it hard to talk about this with him and we try not to talk about it as it seems easier but i can see hes in pain but i just dont know how to help.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Anon although I'm sorry that your dad's cancer has spread. It must be very difficult.

Hopefully some of our members will offer their advice and experiences to you soon but in the mean time I just wanted to share this information we have for family members. I hope this helps but if you would like to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses then you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Best wishes to you both,
