Aftercare

My partner was rushed in to hospital 10 days ago with suspected kidney stone and it turned out to be a tumour. A radical nephrectomy was perfomed just over a week ago and now at home recuperating. Due to covid restrictions we were unable to discuss the situation and now home there are lots of questions and feel a bit helpless.

How long till test results come back

What is the typical recovery like..slow initially then gain momentum or sporadic?

Dietary needs? My partner stil has lack of taste which is making it difficult to encourage to eat although eating just 50% less or more and now hates the taste of tea.

Any tips and suggestions to make things easier in these difficult times.

  • Hi Luke,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read about your partner - I hope you're getting on OK.

It's best to discuss all these things with your partner's doctor or specialist to ensure that the information is specific to your partner and so that you can be informed as to the best way to support them. Try to discuss this in your next appointment, or if you don't have one coming up soon, you can always give them a call.

Meanwhile if you'd like to discuss anything with our nurses, you can reach them on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
