Any ideas?

My husband was recently diagnosed with stage 4 terminal small cell lung cancer with multiple metastases. The diagnosis was given by telephone 25th March due to the covid situation. He became unwell last weekend and was admitted to hospice and has since had blood transfusions. He has had a negative test for covid and my employer (NHS) arranged for me to have an urgent covid test which is also negative.

The hospice are still saying no visits and I'm struggling to rationalise why as I've done everything I can to minimise the risk.

Any views?

  • Hi there ..

So so sorry your going through this heartbraking time at the moment... it's doubly crule with carona and visits to loved ones ..

I thought there was spiecial measures in place for those within hospices ... I can't understand why you can't be gowned up to visit ... surely as long as you only saw your hubby and no contact with others .. I'd have thought that was doable for one person to visit at least .. my older granddaughter is in a London cancer hospital having chemo ... with only mum allowed in .. and it's so hard for us and her ... so I know how heartbraking it is ...

If you can get a I pad or tablet in to him ... you could ask the nurses to put on face time .. it's the next best thing .. it's what I do for my granddaughter... technology is great ... and at least you could see him, and chat ... if you have any young family members ask them to get you on board ... some phones even can do it ...  good luck ... sending you a vertual hug....
