Moms Stage 4 Colon cancer

Hi Everyone. My mom was just diagnosed with stage 4 colony cancer (conveniently in the middle of of pandemic). She has had a pretty significant amount of fluid on her abdomen which has been drained about 3 times since feb. She is now set to go every two weeks but could probably stand to go once a week. It seems to come back almost immediatly. She just started two kinds of chemo this past week. I'm just wondering if anyone has experience with this. It doesn't seem like a good sign. They also put my dad through chemo well past it's usefulness and completely wrecked his quality of life at the end. I'm afraid that's what is happening her. Anyway any thoughts would be much appreciated. I just feel so helpless.Thank you!

  • Hi ktjd916,

Welcome to Cancer Chat - although I'm sorry to read about your mom. I hope you're getting on OK although I'm sure this is incredibly difficult.

While I can't help with your question, my reply here will boost your post so more people will see it and if anyone has similar experience or advice then hopefully they'll be along soon.

As it's a medical concern the best thing would be to discuss with your mom's doctor or specialist when you can.

In the meantime I hope you find this forum a useful support to you.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
