Thiamine and cancer

Hi,

My dad has recently been diagnosed with incurable oesophageal cancer. We are totally devastated to say the least. Still numb with shock and in total denial. I go through waves of crying to the deepest sadness, with little in between.

I am curious to know if anyone in a similar situation has been put on a thiamine supplement. Think it was the GP who prescribed this but the nurse specialist basically questioned this today and advised to stop. I looked into it a bit further and am shocked as to what google is bringing up. It is showing a link with tumour growth and chemo resistance. Now I'm wondering why this was prescribed in the first place or what benefit it was thought to have?

My dad seems to be deteriorating everyday. He is due to start chemo next week on a reduced level to minimise risks with coronavirus.
