Caring for a friend

Hi, I'm looking after my 69 year old friend who started immunotherapy treatment for lung cancer and had 2 sessions before becoming ill with side effects. A third treatment took place four weeks ago but nothing since due to being very poorly. My friend feels she has no quality of life now, usually a busy energetic person she has barely got out of bed for 6 weeks. Consultant is saying carry on but I don't think it's the right thing now. Does anyone have a similar experience to help me with please?

thank you

  • Hi there ..

It's only my thoughts .. but I'd ask her .. see how she feels and what are her thoughts ... you sound an amazing friend ... so don't forget to look after you too ... she must be feeling really low at the mo .. but sometimes it's hard to share feelings ... but letting her talk, and accepting how she feels ... is a huge step ..  I think everyone should be in control of their treatment ... whichever way they choose ...

Wish we all had a friend as caring as you ... Chrissie x

  • Thank you Chrissie,

we will try and talk to the consultant this week and see what the options are. Of course with Covid 19 the staff are under a lot more pressure.

    You take care
