My husband finishes 6 weeks and 2 chemo next week. How long should he isolate?
Hello Morgsyjules,
The Government has published this guidance and strongly advises anyone undergoing chemotherapy to rigorously follow shielding measures in order to keep yourself safe and the NHS is writing to people in these groups with advice and information about what to do during this time, and where to access support. The advice is to stay at home at all times and avoid any face-to-face contact for a period of at least 12 weeks from the day you receive your letter. Please note that this period of time could change.
Your husband's medical team will be able to tell you more about this. So perhaps you could ask them next week when he goes back to finish his treatment how long he should self-isolate for and whether they have further advice for you?
You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
I hope this helps and best wishes to you and your husband.
Best wishes,
