Can any one help I am worried about my mum?

I am 22 years of age I am currently self isolating with my mum who has lung cancer and it has also spread to her lymph nodes, unfortunately it's not curable we found this out in December 2018 given the circumstances everyone's in at the moment due to Covid-19, my mum has developed a cough the last 5-6 days but no temperature or other symptoms of Covid-19 but her coughing seems to be getting worse to the point where she has had a few coughing fits where she really struggles to breath, she was due her herceptin today but was not allowed to attend due to her cough I'm very worried given the Covid-19 situation we find ourselfs in that she's not going to get any help or treatment she needs and if I have to call for emergency services will they attend? Will I be allowed to go with her? Will she be taken away and I'll never see her again? Is there any thing I could do at home to help with with her pain or coughing?, if any one has any advice I would really appreciated it thank you.

Kind Regards

  • Hi there ..

So so sorry your going through this heartbraking time at the moment... esp harder with 'carona' at the mo ... I'm not medically qualified.. but they say you need a dry cough and temperature with that ..

But even without the carona virus... they wouldn't treat her with any cough as she needs to be as healthy as possible... but I'm sure if you give her oncology team a ring and write those questions down they will advise you, though there maybe a wait on the phone as there's so many question people have now .. but your questions are important to you .. so don't give up ..

Fingers crossed you get those answers .. Chrissie x

  • Thank you Chrissie, I will follow up with the oncology department, yes the nhs is under extreme pressure especially now and they all do an amazing job they couldn't be any better or nicer so I'm sure they will do there best. Thanks again.

    Kind Regards
