Losing weight

Hi, I hope you don't mind me messaging , but my mum is currently going through radiotherapy for thyroid cancer and she has got to the point she cannot eat or drink, the doctors have given her things to take and drink but she tries but is rapidly losing weight she feels I'll so it's preventing her in wanting to eat, is there anything I can do for her? Thank you all and God bless

  • It's hard, I know. Cancer tend to make us lose weight anyway, and when it makes us lose our appetite as well that's a double-whammy.

My own solution? Yummy stuff :)

It's got to be tasty, preferably nutricious. Small helpings too - finish a tiny meal wanting more and have more meals. And keep the small puddings rolling in for the calories. Worst case scenario: try chocolate. M&S do some nice mini-meals, Annabel Karmel have a decent range too. (I have to do my own food and I run out of get-up-and-go pretty easily, so I go for ready meals.)

Complan isn't exactly what I crave for, but I force myself to have that for a drink just to get the nutricion in - I can keep that down even when solid food wants to jump back out.

    kindest regards, Steve
