Grade 4 tumours glioblastoma

My pops got diagnosed at the beginning of the year, and we have been told prognosis is pretty poor (12-18months) he's 66 and generally very fit and well. He's currently on steroids and we are waiting to hear when he starts radiotherapy. At the moment he seems pretty well, fairly forgetful but that would be it I would say. Anybody know what to expect ? How it goes downhill etc. I just feel as tho I need to be as mentally prepared as possible

    I'm sorry to hear about your Pops. It's good to hear that despite his diagnosis he's fit and well for his age. No doubt this will stand him in good stead for his treatment. 

    We have some information on our website about glioblastoma which may help answer some of your questions but I also wanted to let you know about The Brain Tumour charity. They have an online community where I'm sure you'll be able to connect with others who have the same diagnosis. 

    We also have a team of nurses here at Cancer Research UK and if you would like to talk things through with them you're welcome to call them for a chat. I'm sure that they would be able to offer some advice and information. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. 

    I hope that some of this helps you to start to feel more prepared for supporting your Pops.

    Just over a month since I lasted posted Pops seems to be going downhill a little ! Really forgetful, could have just got back from somewhere but has no idea where he has been, eating like a horse constantly, but not gaining any weight, mood swings galore !! He can be lovely one minute and then be having a go the next ! And his eyesight is deteriorating ! He only has partial vision on one eye he is still managing to get out and about and is still active..he has denied all treatment and is just continuing with his steriods... not sure what to expect now, how much does prognosis change without radio and chemo ??
