Lung Cancer advice

Hi,

My elderly father was diagnosed with 3C lung cancer sept. 2019.

2 weeks ago he was prescribed oramorph to ease his cough (he's never smoked). Since then the deterioration in his strength is shocking. Gets out of breath just standing up - I can't imagine the cancer would cause such a rapid change in such a short time and wonder if it could be related to the oramorph. The GP says he should take it through the day as it's meant to help his breathlessness but I see the opposite unless it's coincidence . We get the results of next CT scan in next few days so will see the progression.

thank you

  • Welcome to the Cancer Chat community NZ although I'm sorry about your father.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in similar situations or have taken oramorph will share their advice and experiences with you soon but if you'd like to discuss this with our cancer nurses you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

I hope the results of the CT scan bring good news NZ.

    Kind regards,
