Gloves - recommendations for helping split skin

Hi .. my mother has had Sezary syndrome for several years . Fortunately she is quite well is responding well to treatment at hospital (UK)

Her main problem is her hands. Her fingers frequently split and are painful where the skin is so dry and thin and she 'plasters' them with special plaster she's given from the hospital(also her feet cause her pain at times ) she wears cotton gloves most of the time . Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations of gloves ? Creams? Management of this?

Thanks

Susannah

    Hi Susannah,

    Welcome to our forum.

I am not a doctor, but I do suffer from very dry hands. I found O'Keefes hand cream very good for healing fissures and it works quiteuickly. This is an American product. It is quite expensive, but well worth it. I would expect the cotton gloves to dry up the hands even more. Has she tried vinyl gloves? She probably wouldn't need to use these all the time, but they might help to start with.

The crea is available in Boots and most pharmaceutical stores.

Please let us know how she gets on.

    Kind regards,
    Jolamine xx

  • Hello,

l suffered on both hands and feet and used neutrogena hand cream which really does a good job preventing them from drying out and cracking, again available in chemists,

       hope this helps,
