Dad has a stoma - can anyone give us tips on how to manage?

Hello, my father has done a colostomy and is trying to copy with it.

He has a great difficulty in changing the bag as he has macula degeneration.I was wondering if there's anyone who can give some advice.

Thank you.

  • Hi Piter,

Unfortunately I'm not able to advise on this, but my reply here will boost your post so more people will see it and if anyone has relevant experience or advice to share then hopefully they'll be along soon.

There is a website here that offers some advice which may be helpful.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • Ithere are different ways to change the bag

Standing up in front of a mirror

Or lieiing down with a mirror by the legs to help guide

When I first had to change my bags I would use x 2x zoom mirror to help position the bag

But personally would get on contact with his stoma nurse if he is struggling to change the bag

I had problems for a while where the bag wouldn't stick and I was getting leaks and they are always helpful
