I am really sorry to hear about your best friend's dad. It can be hard to know what to say to a friend who is supporting a loved one through cancer. All you can do really for your friend is just keep being there for her. You don't need to comment on her dad's prognosis as unfortunately no one can really predict apart perhaps from his medical team what the outlook might be. So all you can do really is be there for your friend so that she knows that she can come and talk to you if she needs to offload and that will mean a lot to her. 

Hopefully other members of our forum will have suggestions for you on how best to support your friend through this difficult time. I am sure she really appreciates having such a caring best friend at a time when she needs it the most.
