My mum was diagnosed with endometrial cancer at the end of November. The consultant was extremely positive at the time. However mum was admitted to hospital over Christmas with a DVT and a womb infection.
A subsequent CT scan confirmed the cancer has spread to her lungs. She remains in hospital because of immobility and a refusal on her part to mobilise.
She has been offered palliative radiotherapy but with no timescale or any other information. In fact the oncology team appear to have disappeared completely! I'm concerned her "social" admission is delaying her treatment.
Mum has given up. I've engaged with a counsellor - so hoping that this along with some prescribed antibiotics depressants might help.
Everything seems painstakingly slow - and inter team communication is poor. That said the nursing care on the medical ward is great.
We are struggling as a family. Dad is fragile and we just have no idea what to expect...
