Breast cancer with brain mets

Not sure why I'm posting but maybe to feel like I'm not alone.

In September 19 my 46 year old mum got diagnosed with breast cancer. After treatment started it was confirmed it had spread to liver and bones. Devastated isn't the word.

Fast forward (by 2 months) and she is feeling dizzy. We suggest we take her to A&E, on nye. While we were waiting for blood test results she had 2 major seizures. Right then I knew what it was. It was confirmed by a CT that it had extensively spread to brain and she was in hospital for over a week. She is undergoing wbr to ease symptoms but prognosis obviously isn't good. Her voice has gone and she is unable to do anything for herself anymore, and she's quickly deteriorated.

I just can't believe this time 6 months ago we were living our lives and the fact she will never get better is what hurts me the most.

i admire everyone who is caring for someone with cancer and especially brain mets as it is one of the hardest things I've had to deal with in my life.

thank you for reading x

  • Hello Jnme245

I'm sorry to hear that your Mum has been given this news recently. It can be incredibly difficult when someone that you're caring for deteriorates so quickly. It can at times feel very much like you're dealing with things alone but please know there are lots of members here who will understand how you're feeling.

I'm unsure from your post if Mum is still in hospital or if you are caring for her at home. If she is home then I hope that you have the practical support in place that you all need. Don't be afraid to discuss things with the hospital or her GP if not.

If you'd like to talk to one of our nurses for some advice and support then please do give them a call. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

    Best wishes,
