He doesn't want to know about his cancer........... I do

My husband has a follow up appointment with oncologist tomorrow, but doesn't want to know how he's doing, if cancer has spread etc. etc. I have had opinions from friends who can see 'where he is coming from' and so can I up to a point........ but I want to know. Has anyone else been in this position.... what did you do about is ? I realy need help/answers please.

Of course you want to know, he's your husband and you're caring for him! How will they treat him further if he doesn't have a clue? So speak to your McMillan nurse and ask her what happens now, then at least you can have some idea of what will happen in the future. Good luck, Carol

I'm sorry it's not the answer you're looking for but the oncologist and nurses have the information, if he's agreed to you being involved then speak to them and ask your questions. You should have a telephone number to contact them privately to discuss your queries. Carol

Yes, you can ask the doc or nurse about all, he does not need to know or can go outside if he want's to. Some patients don't want to know, are affraid , it's understandable. But if he consents to you asking. Then go ahead!!
