Liver and Lung metastasis

Hi,

My mom was diagnosed with Bowel cancer 7 years ago, she had surgery to remove for it to return in 2015 - again part of her bowel was removed.

2 years ago we discovered she had liver mets, and they completed a liver resection and was only able to remove 1 of 3 tumours.

She also had chemotherapy that reduced the tumours in liver but had to stop due to her heart failure.

1 tumour was ablated mid last year.

October last year we discovered she has at least 3 liver mets, with lymph nodes around the lungs affected. There was also one small tumour in her lungs.

She resumed Chemo a month ago, but has been admitted to hospital twice since then, teh chemo gave her severe diarrhea.

I am not sure what to expect, i know every case is so different.

Has anyone aware of anything similar? What should I expect over the coming year?

I feel scared that the cancer will spread and I will lose her.

Thank you

Shah

  • Hi Shah,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm so sorry to read what your mom is going through at the moment - I'm sure this is incredibly hard for you all.

As you say, everyone is different and so it's difficult for anyone here to advise on what to expect. The best thing is to get all the information you can from your mom's consultant or medical team so you can be as informed as possible.

Do use this forum as much as you'd like for any support, or as a safe space to write down any thoughts or concerns - it's a very welcoming and understanding community of people here.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
