My father and 2 brothers have all had terminal bowel cancer. Has anybody experienced genetic testing,? If so, what did you do please

My oncologist referred me to be genetic tested for the BRCA gene as my mum had triple negative breast cancer 10 months before I was diagnosed with it. It's a blood test i'm having for it and results take around 8 weeks, hope this helps.
