losing all mobility

Hi, my partner has been diagnosed with lung cancer that has spread to the brain, he has had 4 chemo sessions and have been told that it has shrunk the tumour.. good news..but the Oncology team are not concerned with the lung cancer anymore, they are more concerned with the brain, around 4 weeks ago he had WBRT, not really any side effects, but suddenly he has started to lose all mobility, within days, we have had to get a hospital controlled bed, also, a comode.

My question is, has this happened to anyone else, also  what to expect next....

    I'm sorry to read about your partner and what you're going through at the moment - I'm sure this is a tough situation to deal with and I hope you're getting on OK.

    Unfortuntately no-one here can really advise on what to expect next - it's best to discuss this with your partner's consultant who is best placed to advise. Do make sure you discuss things so that you're as informed as possible.

    If anyone here has similar experience to share then hopefully they'll be along soon.

    Hi I've just came across your post looking for answers myself and couldn't find anything else similar. My dad is exactly the same with a hospital bed at home and catheter as he can't even get onto the commode anymore. Lost all mobility after his 3rd round of chemo for lung cancer. His has shrunk also but can't walk or even use his hands. They said it was a chemo side effect. Very rare. He is also very confused with delirium. Is on antibiotics now for a water infection but has been like this on and off for weeks. Acting very bizarre. I know your post is old but can you give me any answers on your experience? Thank you in advance.

    my own dad was like this after rapid weight loss and his meds werent adjusted so it could be causing the confused state

    Hi. My husband has lost a lot of mobility which happened after his 4th round of PCV chemo for a brain tumour. He has fallen a few times and ended up in hospital once as when he falls he is too weak to get himself up and has to drag himself on his stomach to the sofa or bed to help him up. He has a zimmer to walk around the house with, and various other aids and a fall alarm. His oncologist agreed with us that he has had enough of chemo now but that he has done well getting to 4 sessions. We now have to wait about 5 weeks for an MRI to see if the chemo has done its stuff. I am hoping he will start to get stronger now and the mobility will return but I am worried that it’s something we are going to have to live with. He hasn’t improved at all since his last chemo pill 5 weeks ago. We will see how things are when we have the post scan appointment and discuss it further with the doctor

    Hi, thank you for your reply. Good luck with everything it's an awful thing to have to watch someone go through with rapid decline. The doctor came to see him yesterday and have said she thinks the cancer has taken over his body and it is shutting down as I he didn't wake up at all for 2 days and can't eat. Will keep others updated on here as it might help other people's understanding of things. Thank you. Alan.
