Pembroizumab

My sister in law has been receiving this treatment for quite some time now and has had 35 treatments. This has been successful inasmuch as she feels perfectly fine and is not suffering any side effects apart from mild tireness. Her consultant has now told her that the NHS limit has been reached for her number of treatments and it would not be financed further. She has no partner he, my brother has already died of cancer. She has a son of 35 years who has Cerebal Palsy and who lives in a residential unit coming home during one day a week but not overnight. She desperately wants to be around for as long as she can for him especially as she feels very well, but is concerned that the stopping of this treatment will acelerate her passing. Are there any options, is there anything else she can do. Thanks for any help.

  • Hi Doug1949,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read what your sister in law is going through at the moment - this sounds like an incredibly tough situation for you all.

Unfortunately no-one here will really be able to advise on your situation. The best thing is to discuss this with your sister in law's consultant if you can. If you'd like any further advice or to talk things through with our nurses, you can reach them on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
