Hi! new here :)
A family member has been diagnosed with breast cancer and am wondering which way is better to shave her head? I have seen people use a manual razor (as in Gillette type) and obviously electric is there a benefit to either?
thanks

Hi there [@Rsmith456]
Having gone through this fairly recently I thought I'd share how I did it.
My hair started to fall out quite rapidly through chemotherapy so before I had huge gaping bald patches I wanted to donate what I had. So initially I did several plaits on my head and cut these off about 2 inches from the scalp.
Once that was done I got an electric clipper and used grade 4 all over to give me some control over the hair loss and also decide if I wanted to keep it like that for a while. I like the clippers as they come with so many grades you get more control over the length, and also it's better to start higher and work your way down if your nervous or unsure. Electric clippers also get you to a point where you can then shave.
I decided to then use the electric clippers on grade 1. This gave me a short bit of stubble which I maintained for several weeks as more fell out.
As bald bits became more prevalent I did a grade 1 all over again, then used shaving foam and a GOOD men's razor like Gillette with the 5 blades. This then gave me a silky smooth head! My hair still grows a little bit but also is falling out so I'll use shaving foam and a razor once a fortnight so that I don't look patchy.
It really depends on how she wants to go about it. If you're doing it all at one go I strongly suggest using scissors on ponytails initially if she has anything longer than shoulder length. Then going down to a grade 4ish then again a grade 1. Otherwise there's just too much hair to keep control of. Once you're at grade 1 then go to a razor and plenty of shaving foam if she wants a smooth finish and doesn't want stubble.
If you try shaving with a normal razor at anything longer than that you're going to ruin the razor quickly and need two or three just to get your head done. Think leg hair length!
didn't mind the stubble but that's a personal preference.
Hope this helped, if you need more assistance please just @ me and I'll do my best!
Rose
Thanks for the quick reply, @Ross2991
She has just got her haircut into a bob so not enough to donate anywhere I dont think her ponytail is only like an inch or two (most places seem to be minimum 7) she has decided to do it all at once so using the electric razor then the manual one
