Lung cancer spread to the brain

Hello

My mum found out she has an aggressive lung cancer in February last year, they gave her 12 months with chemo - she has been doing really well however, she has just found out that it has spread to the brain.  Can anyone give me advise on how long she might live for as family members who live abroad are asking me.  The doctors have said they will try and see if they can do something to help with this secondary cancer but i dont seem to be getting any answers.

  • Am so sorry to hear about your mum

My auntie is in very similar situation lung cancer diagnosis feb 2018

went to adrenal gland and brain may-June this year she had opertion on the brain in July they removed it and done radiotherapy for any cells left she looked better.
we then found out 6 weeks ago it was back and she deteriorated a week later she has been in bed ever since it's absolutely heartbreaking

  • Good evening. I am in a similar situation, with my husband, and I am so sorry about your mum. My husband is 75. I am 52. He was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer with brain mets.  He has had radiotherapy on the brain tumour and now has just finished his 2nd cycle of intense chemotherapy. We are due for next cycle on Monday 23rd, but my husband has decided he is too weak and too poorly from side effects that he would rather have his quality of life back for however long we have left together rather than a "possible" month or 2 extra but being so sick along the way. I am finding this all very overwhelming, as it has all happened within 6 months. Off the record we were told 6 months with treatment, I'm just at a loss but trying to be brave for my husband. Feel helpless and lost. X
