Help

Partner had nasal cancer surgery last Wednesday using endoscopy , he came home following day but since then is not sleeping at night and is complaining of pain in his face , he also had his teeth removed so is on soft food diet . He's a smoker who's unwilling to quit . He is very lethargic during the day , sleeping on and off every few hours . IV suggested he goes to g.p to ask for painkillers and perhaps sleeping tablet , is there any other help or advise you can give . Thank you

  • Hello LoopyLou66,

Welcome to our forum! Your GP is definitely a good first port of call to discuss pain relief and the fact that your partner is struggling to sleep at night. Make sure when you talk to the GP that you mention that he is recovering from nasal cancer surgery, has pain in his face and whether you need to speak to his medical team at the hospital for more specific advice on this.

Our nurses are also available on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm if you wish to talk things through with them.

I hope your partner feels better soon and makes a swift full recovery and that he finds adequate pain relief and manages to get plenty of rest.

    Best wishes,
