Can’t stop worrying: husband's HPV tongue cancer has spread

My husband was diagnosed with HPV tongue based cancer that spread to his lymph nodes in November last year, he had 33 radiation therapy, 3 chemotherapy sessions and then a operation to remove a tumour in his neck. He is now going through Imnunotherapy which he will have once a month for 1 year. He is very depressed and struggles with motivation to do anything.  I have to be away with work and find it hard not to worry so much.

  • Hi Jemima1,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read about your husband and what you're going through at the moment - I can only imagine how difficult this is.

I'm sure you're doing all you can to support your husband. Ultimately you have to carry on with your work so where possible try to keep focused on that, and then continue to support your husband when you're not at work. It's important too that you get some support - hopefully you have others around you that you can speak to. Do also use this forum as much as you'd like to write down any thoughts or worries. It's a very welcoming and understanding community of people here.

It's natural to worry and in a situation like this it would be hard not to - but try to look after yourself too.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
