Pain relief for tongue cancer

Does anyone have any tips on pain relief as my poor mum has tongue cancer. Thanks

  • Hello DaughterOfAVA,

Sorry to hear your mum has been diagnosed with tongue cancer and that she is presumably in a lot of pain. I hope you will hear from some of our other members who have had to resort to pain relief for tongue cancer and that they will share their experience with you. I hope you don't mind but I have changed the title of your post to 'Pain relief for tongue cancer' as it will make it a little bit more specific and hopefully attract more replies from users who have been affected by tongue cancer.

I think the best thing to do is maybe to talk to your mum's medical team and ask what pain relief options would be most suitable to her in her particular circumstances.

Our nurses are also available on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm if you wish to discuss this with them and ask them for their advice.

I hope you mum gets the pain relief she needs soon!

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you. I just wasn't getting any help from old doctor and now we have a new gp practice and some morphine. 5ml was too much for her and now reduced to 2.5ml so she's not so sleepy.
