In a bit of a panick

hi I have just been told my father has a tumor in his kidney and lungs he has been sent home with pain relief and we are waiting for tommorow so the experts can view his results and organise a meeting in the mean time what do we do everything is a blur the tears and not knowing is really worrying I am sorry if  I do not make sense I live alone and have nobody to talk to

  • Hi R-a

I’m very sorry to hear the news about your father, it’s quite a shock when a loved one is in potential health trouble. My father was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer stage 3 and underwent radiotherapy and 3 operations which turned out to be a success and he’s still with us today ( that was 10 years ago) so don’t worry yourself unnecessarily as treatments are getting much better these days and it’s not the death sentence it once was. So only cross that bridge if or when you come to it because now at least he’s in the system and being monitored and tested and hopefully cured ASAP. Sending big hugs and thoughts try not to worry. X

  • Hi R-a you are allowed to panic, my husband got the diagnosis that he had tumor in his left kidney and spots on his lung May this year and I remember well coming on this forum feeling lost ,scared ect Husband had left kidney out June 20th 2019 open surgery, and has recovered well (12cm tumor) we knew it had spread to the lungs,ct scan in August  showed it was also in the tissue  where the kidney had been sitting, he has started immunotherapy last week and is doing ok if you need reassuring  read user name,"billygoat" he and many others helped through those really black days when I first heard the word cancer connected with my husband, also when  your father gets his next appointment please take someone with you or write what is said down I came out shell shocked couldn't remember anything that was said so had to phone the cancer nurse who explained in plain english, hope this helps

  • Hi R-a,  just noticed my name popped up,, i can't ease you stress but maybe ease your thoughts on treatment, I'm uncurable prostate cancer, which has gone to lymph nodes, spine, ribs, pelvis and a lung, i just have to live with my uninvited guest, i was diagnosed Feb 2016 how long i had it before is anybodies guess could have been years, any way I'm living a normal life apart from getting older, I'm on permanent hormone therapy, and cemotheropy when neaded, i should have quite a few years to go yet, hope this helps you even a little bit, oh and I've never had an operation to much risk of spreading the cancer other places, best wishes....
