My mum has small cell cancer in her esophagus

My my has small cell cancer in her esophagus and its aggressive and they say its incurable  and inoperable they say the only thing that will give her time is chemotherapy she has refused it... what do you suggest any response will be appreciated

  • Hi there ...

So so sorry your going through this heartbraking time with your mum ... cancer sucks big time ...

But as someone with cancer .. my opinion is, it's our cancer , ours to choose which path we take ... I'm sure your mum knows chemo could maybe give her a little time, but it would make her feel very weak and could have lots of side effects ... if she's been told it's not treatable and non operable , just maybe she's choosing quality over quantity ...

Cancer takes away our control... but in you letting her have that control back, will mean the world to her .. hold her hand ... walk with her ... make every day count .. put a lifetime of memories into the time she's given .ask her about her childhood...  look through albums .. go for a coffee on good days .. just sit holding her hand , watch a film ...ask her if theres anything she wants to do .....I'm sure you wouldn't want to see her going through this treatment in your heart ... and if she did it for family because that's what they'd want , is that fare ...

I'm on my cancer journey... and my wonderful family have supported all my decisions ... while we discus things the last choice is mine ... so I'm doing that to ... making every day count ... living in the day .. and I'm doing it my way ... so I'm all for every cancer patient having the right to decide what they do or don't do .. there's no right or wrong way .. but supporting her now ...

Sending you a vertual hug.... Chrissie xx
