Hi.. i’m In exactly the same position as you, my mum has lung cancer, she has had radiotherapy which was very hard going and unfortunately hasn’t worked for her which was told to us last week, she’s been hospital for a week as her legs had became so weak and it now thought that it may have gone to her spine, unfortunately there is nothing else that can be done for her and she’s come home today with a supplied hospital bed and commode, i’m doing my best to make everything as perfect and comfortable as possible, i’m taking care of all her personal needs but will have nurses coming in from tomorrow, the best advice I can give is to be that shoulder to cry on and that hand to hold through the whole process, I don’t how long my mum will go on for and seems fairly well atm, but i’m determined to make what time she has left happy and stress free, this is the hardest thing i’ve ever had to go through and I wish you all the best xx

My mum not started radiotherapy yet. Probably end of the September. She’s only getting 12 sessions but nothing else after that. Starting to think is it really worthwhile to put her through it.

My mum only had 5 sessions of a higher strength as she has Arthritis and with the pain it was difficult for her to lie for the radiotherapy, i’m Sure the oncologist will give you advice on what’s the best avenue for your mum, I’ve learned that as much as I would like every treatment possible for my mum they will only do what they think is going to give my mum the best quality of life for the time she has, the radiotherapy for my mum was unsuccessful but I if your mum chooses radiotherapy I wish her all the best and she copes with the side effects well, it really is amazing what they can do today, I pray for good results for you xx

Hello all. 

My mum is now in the Marie curie hospice in Edinburgh. She was initially taken in to hospital in Edinburgh on the 8/2/20 and then transferred to the hospice on the 1/3/20. She has battled bravely and is still fighting this battle but I know the end is near. I've been with her everyday and I'll be there tomorrow for her. 

My mum died today at 0410 hrs at the Marie curie hospice in Edinburgh. She died with me holding her hand and she knew she wasn't alone. She was brave to the end and I will miss her so much.
