Where?

I am really posting this for a close friend who's 16 yr old daughter was diagnosed with an extremely rare chest wall sarcoma 10 weeks ago. The tumor is aggressive. Due to the complexity of the cancer, it took time to decide the right treatment which eventually was termed as "best guess". This treatment hasn't proved fruitful and she is currently on an alternative chemotherapy. If this doesn't work then the options are limited as an operation to remove the tumor is considered very high risk until the tumor is either shrunk or otherwise. We have both discussed cannabis oil as a last resort should all other options fail. A gamble for sure but doing nothing isn't an option either. Any advice is welcome

  • Hi Saga2216 and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to read about your close friend's daughter's situation. I can't begin to imagine how difficult this must be for you all at the moment.

Cannabis oil containing THC is illegal in the UK without a prescription and is currently only available on a case by case basis for those with epilepsy. You can read more about this on the NHS website just here.

It's understandable you want to try and do whatever you can to help but any alternative therapies being considered should really be discussed with a medical professional first as it may interfere with any conventional treatment that is being carried out and possibly cause side effects as well.

We have a rather interesting article exploring cannabis and cancer on our science blog if you'd like to find out more and you can have a chat with our cancer nurses about this on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m as well.

    Kind regards,
