Lung cancer

Hi there I’m new to this but basically my mum has had lung cancer t4n2 squamous for 2 years now. Had chemo and radio but can’t have anymore as her body won’t be able to take it she is having immunotherapy she saw her consultant today and he dosnt think the cancer has grown but oncology do. He has suggested another scan then in 6 wks she sees him again and continue with the treatment she’s on but has said there’s nothing after that they can do for her. I’m in bits and not sure weather I should quit my job and just be there or continue juggling everything does anyone else have knowledge on this?

  • Hello there, I really do feel for you and your Mum. I had a lower lobectomy and wedge resection back in February this year. Chemotherapy began April to June and I’m still back and forth for scans etc., but I’m OK.  My two daughters and sister and niece have been very supportive, especially my girls. I felt so guilty at their worried look and tiredness in caring for me. The younger daughter took sick leave from work (luckily she works in NHS), her GP signed her off sick with stress and anxiety, she was off work several months. SO, do not be hasty at leaving your job. Explore every avenue before you take drastic steps. Talk to your GP, chat to the Macmillan staff at the hospital, or the CRUK nurses on here. I didn’t realise the amazing bank of people who can help in this situation, the financial help and practical help for your Mum and emotional support for yourself. I’m sending huge hugs for both of you, take care and be kind to yourself xx
