Chemo brain

My dad has had a rapid diagnosis via a&e followed by a biopsy and a round of RCOP chemo for aggressive NHL of the colon lining.  He suffered tumour lysis syndrome and a week in intensive care.  After 3-4 days post chemo and in intensive care with a chest infection to boot.....he’s changed.  It’s like he has dementia, he doesn’t understand what we tell him, he’s rude and aggressive, he’s back to the ward and has his second round in two weeks but will we ever get dad back??

  • Hi Dylansmom.

Welcome to the forum although I'm sorry to hear about your Dad's diagnosis.

From what you've shared in your post it really does sound as if he's been through the mill these last few weeks. Whether the change in Dad's personality is due to the chemo or is a result of everything else he's had to endure is impossible for us to say. Have you spoken to the hospital about your concerns? If you've not as yet, then do speak to them.

If you'd like to have a chat to one of our team of nurses for some advice and support then do give them a call. They are available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

    Best wishes,
