kidney cancer spots on lung

Hi my husband my rock was diagnosed with kidney cancer and spots on lung in May 2019, kidney removed 20th of June he is doing ok, still has catheter in, had 1 trial day without catheter but not successful, saw consultant last Tuesday and the next step is hopefully targeted chemotherapy on lungs but it is a trial and he maybe  put on a placebo tablet!!     I have read on here about the "team" a nurse who would give us information and emotional  support, the only person we have seen is the consultant who told gave us the first diagnoses and the same one who told us what the next step would be, if it wasnt for this forum we would be completely  alone with our fears despair and just no point in going on, every new pain he gets we worry that the cancer is spreading we know that this isn't logical but at dark moments it feels  real.

  • Hi gutted,

I'm so sorry to read about what you're both going through at the moment - this must be incredibly difficult and understandably challenging and worrying.

I'm glad to hear you have at least had some treatment progress and that you have some next steps in place, even though this sounds a little uncertain at this stage.

If you'd like to find out more about your options for available medical support, you might like to talk things through with our nurses. If so, you can reach them on freephone 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5. It's important that you feel you have people around you to provide the necessary support and care.

Otherwise, as you say, everyone on this forum is incredibly welcoming and also going through a whole range of tough situations, so you're very much not alone. Do feel free to use this forum as a safe space to talk through your worries and to speak to others.

Try to stay as positive as possible - I know this is so much easier said than done - but I'm sure you're stronger than you think.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
