Feeling let down by friends since cancer diagnosis

Hi there, first time poster here

My wife, was diagnosed with breast cancer in November, had a mastectomy in December and started her chemo in February. Before then we had a large, very, very solid group of friends who we could count on at any time that they might be needed and the other way likewise. When she was first diagnosed, you couldn’t move in our house for people coming to visit but ever since the chemo has started the frequency and number of people visiting has dramatically fallen and myself and my wife feel that we’ve be left to deal with this ourselves when it should be the complete opposite in our eyes. I don’t know whether we’re being hypersensitive or do people just not know how to deal with this sort of situation? Does anyone else feel like they’ve been cut adrift or have anyone had any similar experiences of this because we’re feeling like there is a massive stigma attached to this situation.....

  • Hi daddypig I'm afraid alot of don't know what to do or say some worry about saying the wrong thing, others scared of catching it (they know they cannot but it scares them) sometimes people will start coming round once things settle in there  heads, hopefully you'll find your true friends, best wishes for the future,.
