Metallic taste in mouth

My mum is undergoing chemo at the moment and has the most awful metallic taste in her mouth which is stopping her from eating. This is causing her to be very weak with no energy at all. Can anyone recommend anything for her to eat or a shake to buy which will help her with her energy levels?

Thank you.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Nikki although I'm sorry to read about this side effect your mum is contending with at the moment.

Hopefully some of our members who have experienced this during their chemo will reply soon to share their recommendations and experiences with you but whilst you wait I thought I would share some handy tips and advice I've found for eating on the Bupa website.

I hope this helps but do give our cancer nurses a call if you'd like to discuss your mum's situation with someone. You can contact them on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

I hope your mum is able to find something to combat this metallic taste soon Nikki.

    Kind regards,
