Playing golf with Portcath

hi all, my husband is having his second treatment ChemoRadiation for oesophageal Cancer, via a PORTOCATH  ( he’s only 57)

until January he played golf 4 times a week, ran 6 miles 2 a week and played 5 aside every Tuesday with our sons and their teen buddies, old crocks and youngsters very fit and active , non smoker occasional drinker.its now he’s so weakened by the chemotherapy he can do little but sit and a very short walk each day , Cancer is looking like this is inoperable.

he would love to hope he can play golf again, does anyone know if it’s possible with a portocath fitted

thank you

  • Hi Gabi and welcome to Cancer Chat.

Unfortunately I've had no luck finding any recent discussions about this on the forum but you're more than welcome to have a chat about this with our cancer nurses on 0808 800 4040. Do be sure to have a chat with your husband's medical team if you haven't done so already as they are in the best position to advise you on this.

I really hope your husband can get back to golfing soon and that the rest of his treatment goes well.

    Best wishes to you both,
