Hi Finedon,
Welcome to our forum, although I'm sorry to hear the reason that has prompted you to join us.
It sounds as if your partner may need some pain killers to help ease his back pain. Has he mentioned his back troubles to his care team? It is certainly well worth doing so, just to rule out that there is nothing untoward with his back too.
Sadly, I don't think that there is much that you can do to help him with this. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 10 years and have had a lot of trouble with my back. I was referred to see a physiotherapist, but sadly there was nothing that she could do for me either. She advised me to used a wheeled walker with a seat. This helps me to get around, even though I feel about 110 with it. I often find standing worse than walking and, this is where the seat comes into it's own. This may not help your partner, but it is certainly worth considering.
I was initially given pain medication, which helped a little, but I had to eventually stop taking these due to the side-effects.
Do please keep in touch and let us know how he gets on. We are always here for you both.
Kind regards,
Jolamine
