Cervical cancer - Really bad pain

My mother is suffering from extreme abdominal pain. She also has waist pain and it runs to her thighs. She finished 6 cycles of chemo in April. She says it feels like gas and she has some bowel movements. Are those side effects normal? She is die for a check up at the end of this month. What can she do?

  • Hello Pls,

I think it might be worth giving your mum's medical team a call and mentioning this extreme abdominal pain. They will be in the best position to clarify whether these are expected side effects from the treatment or if there is anything they can do to alleviate her symptoms. It's good that she is going to have a check up at the end of the month, but given how severe the abdominal pain is it would be a good idea to flag this with her specialist or to give her GP a call so that they point you in the right direction.

I hope your poor mum feels better soon.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you for your response. She finally got to see her gyn on Friday. The dr gave her some exercises. Hopefully that works. She prescribed some other pain medication but no one wantts to have to take pain killers everyday. I pray that the results from her post chemo check up will be positive.

  • Hi, I know this is an old thread, but was wondering if your mum ever found out what the pain was?
im having exactly the problems you described.

I'm doubled over in pain and my consultant doesn't seem to have any ideas on what it could be. I'm not due a scan for another 2 wks.

    thanks Nic
