My father has been diagnosed with stage four lung cancer

Hello,

I hope everyone is well.

I dont know what to say. My father has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, it has spread to his liver and spine. This has happened suddenly. He was cougning alot and recently found it hard to breath. Over the past month he has had many scans and stuff and today they diagnosed him. He is only 57.

What can i expect as I know the odds arent great at all. By how can i help him and what can i expect.

Im trying to make sence of everything but feel completely lost.

Many thanks in advance.

  • So sorry to hear this. My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 two months ago. My age is closer to your father’s but it is still a shock here also.

    Thinking of you tonight

  • Hi,

Im sorry to hear about your father, it is a shock, especially as I have been abroad. I cant wrap my head around it.

What could i expect from his health, how can i help him?

Thinking of you and your father also.

  • This is the hardest bit. I still fight the need to know in advance EXACTLY what might happen, but it’s pointless really. It’s a bit like pregnancy and labour, everyone has their own story and every experience is different.

I think that information would give me an illusion of control but it is just that.

    Enjoy every day.

I am cooking for the world and his friend.

Dad still has some appetite so I am doing all his faves.

    Seeing some changes.

I think the grieving starts in advance.

    So sad
