Hi,
i have not posted before but could really do with help,
my mum was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer around 3 years ago. Since then she has had a mastectomy, radiotherapy, numerous chemotherapy treatments, muscle and tissue removed from her back due to return of cancer in her chest cavity and tissue used to replace. 12 months ago she was advised it is terminal and she only has 12 months to live, the chemotherapy she was receiving was again changed and to our delight she seemed to be improving (the oncologist said the cancer had not progressed) About 5 months ago she started appearing a little confused, where she would forget what she was talking about - nothing major! This became progressively worse and she was taken into hospital around 4 weeks ago for tests. She is now in a hospice while they carry out further tests, it now appears though that she is fully lucid, she knows what we are saying to her and some days she has conversations with us, other days however she just stares at us. I have asked mum if she understands what I am saying and she answers saying she does, it is like she doesn’t have the energy to answer sometimes, or like she can’t be bothered (which i know would never be the case as we have cried and she just stares) The doctors don’t know what is wrong with mum and it appears everyone is flummoxed!
has anyone else had a similar experience? Can anyone help?
thanks in advance
