Brain tumour and side effects

Hello, my husband has a grade 4 brain tumour with a life shortening diagnosis. After an operation and radiotherapy and chemotherapy he is now on six cycles of a high dose of chemotherapy tablets. Next week he will start cycle 3. His speech is very bad, sometimes we cannot understand him and he gets very frustrated. His sight and hearing is affected and he has limited mobility. I help him wash and dress as he struggles. We knew the treatment could have a bad effect on him but did not expect it to be quite so bad. His quality of life at the moment is not great but I am hoping that once he finishes the treatment he will be able to enjoy life once again. I was wondering if other people in the same situation could share their experiences. It is very hard seeing my husband suffer so much and be so dependent on us just to do normal tasks. We take each day at a time and just help him as much as we can and try to keep his spirits up.

  • Hi Malgusha,

I'm sorry about the struggles you and your husband are having at the moment; this must be very difficult for you both.

I know you're wanting to connect with others so I've had a quick look through the forum and found a discussion you may like to join in on. Hopefully other members in a similar situation will pick up on your post soon as well but if you have any questions or would just like to talk to someone about this then do give our cancer nurses a call. They're available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on 0808 800 4040.

Wishing you both all the very best for the next 3 cycles.

    Kind regards,
