Father-in-law - lung cancer

Hi there,

My father-in-law had a PET scan this morning and was rung by the Consultant within an hour to schedule a biospy for next Thursday. Initially he was told theywould have to wait for up to 2 weeks to get the result and then see about a biopsy. I'm taking this has a bad sign... am I right to do so? We are located near Sheffield in the UK so my father-in-law went to a hospital there.

  • Hi Llublu,

Sorry to hear that your Father-in-law has been having some health problems.

It's impossible to say why the consultant called to arrange the biopsy this week. There could be any number of reasons. It's understandable that you might read this as a bad sign but until your father-in-law has had the biopsy and the results are back no one will really be able to tell you what's going on.

I know that lots of our members here will be nodding their heads knowingly when I say that sometimes waiting for results can be a very difficult time. Try not to Google things or to look too far ahead. Easier said than done but try to take each day as it comes.

Do keep in touch and let us know how things go.

    Best wishes,
