My dad has CLL

Hi there,

I found out last year that my father who is 73 has CLL and was apparently diagnosed around 7 years ago.We have noticed a significant weight loss in the last 6 months and very recently he has suffered with dizziness, feelings of nausea and breathing difficulties (although he is also an asthma sufferer) Until this point there has been no treatment and my dad advises they are 'Observing' him and seeing him every 6 months after a routine blood test. This is the story he tells us anyway. His last appointment at the hospital was January, his next appt is June which I have insisted I would like to attend with him.

People are commenting to me about how terrible he looks. He doesn't want to see a doctor for the nausea and dizziness and says he'll just rest and have a lie down.

My brother and I are worried sick. He doesn't really want to talk about it and brushes off any conversation we try to have with him regarding the condition. I understand he is probably very scared and trying to protect us in not letting on how he feels. I have tried speaking with his doctor but they have not been overly helpful unfortunately.

My mother suffers severe anxiety and also displays the signs of the early on-set of dementia so he is trying to play it all down so not to worry her aswell. Were also worried sick about her too and are trying to get help for her.

We are overhwelmed at what the future holds and what will happen to our dad. I feel somewhat desperate and so sad to see him in this state.

I just wanted some help to understand things better what to expect and where to go from here..... both my parents are clearly unwell and are lost without each other.

This is the first time i've ever posted on a forum so it's a bit new to me. I don't know where else to turn. Thanks
