Thanks for reply, he has been seen at two hospitals, our local hospital referred him to Churchill, the appointment procedure has been explained to me and hopefully we should get one for next week fingers crossed 

Hi my dad has also been told that he’s not well enough for chemo 4 weeks and told without it 6/12 months went bk two weeks later and still not well enough and now fluid in abdomen he’s only got 6 months and I carnt accept it when we was told 6/12 I accepted cried all emotions but maybe I keep hoping he will beat the odds I do hope you get either a Appointment or cancellations as we put our lives in their hands

So sorry and sadden to read this, you are so right, our lives are in their hands, I have felt from day one, that none of the consultants at the other two hospitals he attended wanted to treat him, but I had high hopes for Oxford. Since my post I have had a telephone call explaining the appointments procedure, so hopefully he will be seen and get treatment.

Hiya.I am so sorry to hear about your situation.I am also helping my husband with his cancer . I am also in my 60's.When we had negative discussion with our consultant we had great support from St Peter's Hospice care and thanks to them we managed to get what we wanted.We also have as backup the opportunity of you go on a trial should we need it.I hope you get some possative outcome.Keep fighting.You are entittled to good care for you and your husband.

Hiya.My husband has melanoma that has spread.His consultant wanted to stop his treatment as he felt he did not look well enough to continue treatment.I had other ideas about that and Am glad we questioned it so with the support of our brilliant St Peter's Hospice nurse managed to get more investigations done that a really showed that he was not as bad as the consultant thoughts so his treatment was continued.This all happened in November last year.I am so glad we questioned his decision.We also looked into alternative treatment and was lucky enough to be referred to a hospital in Oxford where trials are done.We had to ask the conoltant for this as it was not offered.He was lucky to get a place for when or if his current treatment stops working.It is very hard but keep fighting as it can't do any harm..Love to you and your family.x

I’m not sure if my dad would be accepted for trials as they say he only has 6 months as bile duct is apparently aggressive which they said in jan2018 he has appointed tomorrow but he said he don’t want to go to be told how long he has to live and they have already stated no chemo I m happy your husbands got the chance tho is what your husband got skin cancer? I don’t think that is aggressive forgive me if I’m wrong but I can certainly ask I might phone my Macmillan nurse

Hiya me again.Yes unfortunately my husband's melanoma aggressive and it has spread a lot since his diagnosis about this time last year.The year be for we were told that it had been fought early enough and it had been removed.Agsin they were very.When my husband was having treatment we met a woman who was given 12 weeks to live 18 months later she was still going strong and although still having treatment felt and was doing well. Also my best friend was given 6 months and 2 years later she made the decision that she was ready to go.We are living with my husband's cancer we know it can't be cured but at the moment it some of it is being controlled.I don't know if what I am writing is of any use to you I wish you and your family well cuz it is a sad and very difficult thing you are all going through.Good luck and love to you all xx
