Hi everyone,
My dad was admitted to hospital on 4/4 with short term memory loss, imbalance when walking and headaches. On 12/4 he was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer which has spread to his liver, lymph nodes and brain. I just can’t believe that 3 weeks ago he was working and everything seemed ok. We are still waiting for the biopsy results and treatment options.
I’m 26 and the eldest sibling- as dad is divorced, I am the one going to all the appointments and stuff. I am a teacher and have been off on holiday for the last 2 weeks but I go back next week and I just can’t imagine what it’s going to be like or how we’re going to manage. I haven’t done any of the work I was meant to! So far there hasn’t been a day that’s gone by that I haven’t been with him since he was admitted to hospital. He was allowed to come home after the diagnosis and we are just trying to enjoy time as much as we can, being with family and friends. The doctors have said he has months, not years but we haven’t received any more info yet. Everything seems surreal.
I was wondering if anyone else has been through anything similar? All of this makes me worry about other family members and their health; both my grandmas and my great grandma died of lung cancer too. I keep thinking back to the hospital and how horrible it was going through all the tests and not knowing what was going on. I keep waking up very early in the mornings and can’t sleep or eat properly. Would appreciate anyone who has any advice or experience with this!
