Colon cancer.

My husband was diagnosed with colon cancer just over a year ago.He had 6 months of chemo, and the cancer was stable. He carried on further chemo up untill 3 weeks ago,but it has almost caused liver and kidney failure. They have sent him home now and we waiting for news from the oncologist who is doing more blood tests which take a while to come back...what are theses tests,or have they sent him home to die ...i am distraught and sad ,just don't know what to do x

  • Hi deb ...

If i were you, I'd write down All those questions you want answering and give his oncology team a call .. after the Easter brake ... write down their answers ...if your still not sure tell them to make it clearer ..

McMillan are good to talk to to ... they helped me when I felt a bit lost and confused ... sorry think that's after the brake too ... hope you get someone on here that can help more then me ...

    Good luck ... Chrissie xx

  • Thank you for the reply..I will contact them after the break.I forgot to mention the stoma surgeon at the hospital told me he had only days if not weeks to live...yet they sent him home, being told such a thing over the phone can not be right.

  • No deb it's not right .. go on Marie Currie home page ... they help those with a terminal diagnosis and their families ... they may even come out to sit through the night .. they really are amazing .. please reach out to them .. take any help offered ..

Cancer sucks ... and life really isn't fare ... but hold on in there .. there's lots on here been where you are now .. your not alone .. I'm here most days ... keep talking .. know those feelings are normal .. I'd be pretty angry in your possisition too .. but there's so many with cancer now .. so many oncology units are so underfunded and stretched .. when I needed help, our oncology nurses stayed after their Finnish time to help me .. think it's the luck of the draw ..

Sending you a vertual hug. . Chrissie xx

  • Hi deb.

i wanred to reach out and give my sincere condolences to you.

I recently too, in April lost my Nan to Colon Cancer, which had spread to the liver. My Nan was dancing away in a nightclub with us for her 80th birthday in December. Diagnosed with colon cancer in mid January, and passed away 17 April 2019. So very scary how an illness can take hold so quickly.

I know it’s not easy, but make sure you talk, that you vent, and hold onto the memories. They are what count.
