Partner has advanced prostate cancer

partner has advanced prostate cancer diagnosis 3 years ago. He’s experiencing extreme pain in his right hip which is constant... has anyone else experienced this pain and if so have you found a solution ,? I’m at my wits end trying to support him through this and it’s tough...on him especially and all then all of us  I myself had cancer breast cancer 6 years ago and have had the all clear... he’s still managing to work which I find extraordinary, and good for him...it’s like the saying street angel, home devil ... he’s remorseful after he’s gone off like a tyrant and I appreciate that he’s in emotional and physical pain, Ashe feels a burden which he’s not  but I’m finding it really stressful to put up with the tantrums where he’s having a pop at everyone including himself. I stay calm and support him but sometimes when he’s gone  I just fall in a heap and feel useless... I think if we could get his pain from his hip under control will make a big difference to him but he’s reluctant to try any other treatment or medication, any ideas on how to get to grips with this physical pain would be appreciated,....

  • Hi you don't say what any of his results are or what treatment he's had. If cancer is in spine it can trap nerves and causes pain other places, have a look at billygoat prostate cancer and living with cancer I've just found out.mine gone to the legs good luck.

My legs make me look like an old cowboy but I manage iwas working till 7 months ago but my wife not very well so I have to look after her now. Went to see specialist yesterday, he said C grade 4 first time he has mentioned that look after yourself as well good luck with him.

  • My husband was diagnosed yesterday. His PSA level is 17.

He started on the hormone suppressants today, has his big injection on Tuesday and bone scan on Thursday. This doesn’t seem very positive does it?

  • Hi don't worry to much you can make your self ill you don't know what is going on yet have a look at billygoat on prostate cancer and living with cancer it should help all the best. Or you can try [@woodworm]‍ .

  • Hi  Mrsgiggly,

    Love your nick name.

When I was diagnosed my PSA was 70. But withtreatment, hormone therapy and radiotherapy it came right down to 0.01, the lowest they can measure. That was a few years ago now. So I hope my experiance gives you and your husband hope.

My wife had lots of giggles when I was on the hormone therapy which lasted for two years. I kept getting hot flushes and all my dear wife could do was to tell me, "Know you know what us women have to go through". She had many a good laugh at my expense.

Take care and best wishes, Brian
