Is death near? Caring for grandmother with pancreatic cancer

Hi there,

i am currently helping to care for my grandmother. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer mid november 2018. Until a week or so ago she hasnt been feeling too bad. the last few days her eating has more or less stopped (it wasnt alot anyway due to a motility disorder), she has lost over 1 stone since being discharged from hospital around 3 weeks ago & she is constantly tired and wanting to sleep. She is given oramorphe 4x a day which may be making the tiredness etc worse but im not sure. We do not know what stage her cancer was at diagnosis as we took her to a private clinic to have a ct scan done as the nhs waiting list was almost 2 months. if anyone could shed any light or offer some help id appreciate it.

thankyou

rebecca

  • Hi Rebecca. .

Well if you paid private, they should have given you all the details ... maybe call them and ask them those questions ...

It doesn't sound to good, if she's not eating and so tired all the time .. I'd deff get her G P on board .. but what a wonderful granddaughter you are .. she must be very proud of you .. look after you too .. in caring for others you forget to care for you ... don't forget all the help out there .. McMillan and Marie Currie... you can find their numbers on their home page ... take all the help you can ...

Sending you a vertual hug ... Chrissie   xx
